Academics
A New Journey Begins
As a parent, it may feel a bit surreal to be looking at kindergarten programs. After all, wasn’t your little one just learning to walk and talk? Time certainly moves fast with children, and nothing matters more to you than making the most of the years ahead.
At Lansing Christian School, we partner with families who want to provide their child with strong academic and spiritual foundations. Kindergarten is a formative year, and Christian parents can rest assured that the values they’ve instilled at home will be reinforced by our caring teachers and staff.
Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:

Kindergarten Overview
Lansing Christian offers a full-day kindergarten program for students who are five years old by September 1. Our nurturing teachers make learning fun as students master the basics of math, science, reading, writing, and problem solving. We also foster each child’s biblical worldview through Bible lessons, daily prayer, worship, and service projects. Biblical truth and Christian values are woven into every subject and activity on our campus.

After School Care
Busy parents value our Junior Pilgrims after-school program, which runs until 5:30 pm each day. When the academic day is done, students move to a different area of campus to participate in activities, receive help with homework, and enjoy free play with friends.
Maximizing Your Little One’s Growth
Children are so unique, and we celebrate that every day. Some are bold and outgoing, others are more shy and reserved. Some are little bookworms, while others learn best through active play. Some love music, some gravitate toward art, and some love sports. As your child begins kindergarten, you will have even more opportunities to see their God-given traits and talents.
At Lansing Christian School, your child will be known well and given every opportunity to grow academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We accomplish this through:
Small class sizes: Our teachers have the capacity to provide individualized attention and stay in touch with parents.
Tailored approach: We start each year with a “Learner Inventory” — a process that allows us to get to know your child and how to best meet their needs in the classroom and beyond.
Active learning: Hands-on activities keep students engaged and help them develop an age-appropriate understanding of core subject areas.
Strong community: Students feel a sense of belonging as they are surrounded by supportive adults and given opportunities to build meaningful friendships through shared experiences.
Why Do Parents Choose LCS?
A Safe Environment
LCS parents have peace of mind because we take campus safety seriously. Our doors remain locked during school hours, and surveillance cameras are utilized throughout our parking lots, hallways, and key traffic zones. We have a rapid alert system and strong relationships with the local police department and first responders. When you enroll your child, we will share more about additional security measures, such as protocols for drop off and pick up, staff and volunteer background checks, and procedures for our campus visitors.
Enriched Learning
The kindergarten learning experience is brought to life by annual events, traditions, and excursions. Students look forward to celebrations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Noah’s Ark Day. Field trips include the Impression Science Center, MSU Children’s Garden, and Red Cedar Gymnastics. Kindergartners proudly showcase all they’ve learned at their end-of-year program, themed after the beloved children’s book “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.”
Continuity of Education
Studies show that students experience success when they are in a consistent environment and able to move seamlessly from one grade to the next. LCS kindergartners are well prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead in elementary school. Our campus is also home to an intentional, transformative middle school program, and a college prep high school. As students grow and develop, they have the security of familiar faces and a home-like environment.
